[tuner23] Shift Light Project
Hello Everyone,
I've been working on a shift light project for my '86 SVO. I bought a high intensity LED light and mounted it in my tachometer just at the end of the rpm range. (Yeah, it looks pretty trick) The light functions well (it's blindingly bright), but the switching mechanism (i.e., the modified .bin file I'm using with the EEC-Tuner) isn't. I took the positive lead of the LED light to a keyed 12 volt source and spliced the negative/ground wire into pin 54 on the ECU wiring harness. Here's the changes I made to the stock PE bin file in order to turn on the shift light function:
1. P_0401--Changed from 1 to 2 to enable the shift light function.
2. P_04E8--Changed from 5500 rpm to 4100 rpm for testing purposes
3. P_04EA--Changed from 5500 rpm to 4100 rpm for testing purposes
4. F_0CB4--Per Randy's instructions I set all of these values to the max allowable level (i.e., 15.6), the rationale being that this would effectively disable this function. The only thing that should turn on the shift light now should be rpm.
Having made these changes the shift light stays on constantly. If that were not strange enough, the radiator cooling fan runs constantly as well. When I disconnect the shift light ground wire the fan operates in a normal fashion. What gives? For those interested, I've attached a copy of the worksheet I'm using for this project.
Mark
