Re: [tuner23] passed CA smog

Thanks Geoff. I just cannot develop the faith in stainless that I have
in NiMoNic alloys. And an oversize exhaust valve and tract seems to be
the ticket for good street performance!

I hear you Bill. Personally I wouldn't downgrade from the stock Inconel to any lesser material for the exhaust valve, especially an oversize valve with its poorer heat transfer geometric ratio. The reason I brought up Ferrea is that, in exhaust valves for more popular engines and semi-finished competition valves, they offer several ascending grades of material they consider to be well above Inconel in temperature performance. Perhaps if they had enough inquiries, they might offer 2.3 exhaust valves in these materials as well. As it is, Ferrea have a wealth of options for anyone willing to adapt one of their blanks or Chevy smallblock valves to fit the 2.3. I believe one approach would be shortening the stem by the necessary amount, machining a keeper groove in the right place, and adding a lash cap or "hard tip", although I don't know if the lash caps or hard tips would be compatible with the stock 2.3 rockers. If not, there's probably a solution for that too.

Geoff.
