Re: [tuner23] Re: AIr Temp Sensor?

By all means it is OK,

81 = Boost control solenoid (BCS), you get this one when the BCS is not
connected, missing or open circuit.
82 = Electro Drive Fan (EDF), you get this one when the computer can not
ground the cooling fan.
83 = High speed Electro Drive Fan (HEDF), you get this one when the computer
can not ground the high speed fan.

So you must be using a 87-88 Turbo computer, what happens is the computer
tests this solenoids on key ON and if any of them do not work/ground as they
should the computer saves a code for them. I use relays to fool the computer
in to thinking that the solenoids are still there in my Pinto SW 87-88 TC
LA3 equipped. Some other people install resistors to give the computer the
same signal so it thinks the circuit is OK.

The fan may be running continuously for some other reason, yet this is not a
bad thing since you can never have enough cooling specially when running
high boost 15+psi.

Do a KOER self test, this one may bring to light problems that may occur
while driving which may account for the attitude.

Chad is refering to my car, the Frankenstein '93 Mustang with a serious attitude problem. So far, everything that Chad has hooked-up is correct. I can't find anything that ain't where it is suppoded to be. I pulled the KOEO codes this afternoon and got an 81, 82, and 83. These all show sensor problems. Also, the fan runs continuously (something it didn't do with the OE engnine). A Chevy friend of mine told me that that was the first sign that the computer was in "dead" mode. It is either that or I've got some dead sensors is what I'm thinking. Of course, I REALLY don't want to go out and just buy everything new, only to find that it was something else.
