Thanks Jaime,

Sound straightforward advice, can't ask for anything more!

The turbo 2.3L are bless to have a rich fuel/air tables as it is. Example
maximum stock boost is at 14.5psi this factory maximum boost can be risen to
20psi boost with out changing any of the fuel system components. True you
will need a more efficient IC and control engine coolant temperature but
that's it.

A lot of people modify the stock system in this cars (increase boost level)
and run in to detonation. The first thing they do is dump in more fuel
thinking that more fuel is the solution to the problem. Yet they forget to
check timing advance(10deg advance) and the aircharge/engine temperature. A
front mount IC is a must for this engines to output their best.

The thing that really brings the power out of this engines other than a
aluminum head is a aftermarket quality EMS or a EEC-tuner.

Also a lot of people do not take care of basic tuning on the stock setup
before beginning to modify the engine, I have to say that if you can't get
200 HP from the stock setup by just adding a front mount IC and increasing
boost to around 20psi, you have some work to do before starting to go any
further. It amazes me the people I see at the track with upgrade turbo,
large front mount IC, adjustable cam sprocket, MSD ignition boxes/coil,
expensive spark plug wires, adjustable FPR and can't do any better than my
JY setup.

So work on the stock setup, get it to work properly and figure out what
needs improvement if anything. We should be able to help, just ask.

Hi Guys,

I don't have a tuner yet, however, as soon as my ride is together, I plan
to
get one:). In the mean time, I asked a question before at another site
about how well a FMU would work with our ECU and got an interesting
answer.
The person said that our ECU would already compensate for fuel as boost
rose
and that the FMU would only be confusing the ECU.

And, I understand that, however, the map works for stock vehicles, once
you
do some mod beyond stock, all hell breaks loose.

Does anyone here run a FMU, if so, is it doing the job? or is it a waste
of
time?.....I don't mean to second guess the other person, but a second
opinion is always good when you go in for surgery:)

Thanks,

Ray
