Re: [tuner23] Re: tuner issues - KAM what is actually remembered?

Supposedly the 86 and newer do save A/F adjustments in KAM. Also supposedly
the computer has a preprogram routine to adjust the calibration as per the
factory preprogram model engine and the actual engine in the car, also the
way the driver drives it.

Since the reference indicates year 86 on this would cover all computers
including turbo ones. The Probs book makes a mention of track times
improving as the computer see the same demand/load as repetitive passes are
made. This indicates learning or adjustment being stored in KAM till the
car/engine is driven differently or the battery is disconnected.

I have to disagree with the hypothesis of Ford 2.3L Turbo EEC's KAM effecting engine fueling operation. Except for failure modes detected.

I believe that there is almost nothing "learned" by the Ford 2.3L
Turbo EEC KAM. I think that most of the possible learning has been
 calibrated out.

During closed loop fuel operation the fuel is adjusted. However this
adjustment should behave the same day after day. Nothing affecting
 the fuel adjustment is "remembered".

An air meter offset term is learned but the maximum value that can be
learned is 0.1 #/min of air flow.

On the other hand failure modes remembered in KAM could cause
 some interesting problems.
