[tuner23] Re: tuner issues
Well, I found the problem tonight. The XR curse strikes again! I
took the ECU out and took out the plug that goes into the
daughterboard. I did a continuity test and it all checked out ok.. I
was stumped, then I plugged it in and did continuity test on the plug
receptacle on the daughterboard to the serial port terminal on the
wire.. AHA!.. no contact on the yellow wire (ground?) I inspected it
and I noticed that the internal pin on the receptacle was damaged, it
seemed to be defective.. if I moved the plug around it would make
contact. It was never set in the plastic correctly (it looked molded
into the plug), I took a metal pick and bent it back to allow contact
with the plug again. I put it together and it worked, the tuner is
back online now.. I don't know how this happened or if someone I
gave a ride to kicked the ecu or snagged the cable and move the plug
a bit but now it works.. The tuner works fine for me. I need to
work on the base fuel map still becuase I get lean conditions on part
throttle and cruise but other wise the WOT maps are pretty straight
forward to set up.

With Martin's post, I feel a little better about all the problems I
have had with the tuner. More than half of the time it does not
run
the file I upload and here lately, it looses the file after a few
days. I have tried the tuner on several processors; currently have
the PF3, started out with the PE.
My ignition and charging system is up to snuff, I run a 3G 95amp
alternator with all new wiring, Optima Cell battery, and everything
else is in good condition. I can always tell when the tuner has
lost
the file as the rev limiter goes back down to stock and I end up
bouncing off of it.
Does anyone else have these issues with the tuner? I think I will
send mine back in and get the newer version with the data logging
capabilities.
