Martin  what kinda gear is in the car??  with a rim that narrow and 500 hp  
you arent going to need too much tire.

Mickey Thompson makes a 26X8.5 inch slick and they suggest a 7-7.5 inch rim 
for it.

that should be plenty. NHRA  Stock Eliminator cars  are going 9.90's  on a 9 
inch wide tire.... so that should be plenty.
